A charity devoted to quality of life for children with cancer, established September 2013 after the loss of a my much loved daughter Abbie Mustard (16 years old) from APML (acute promyelocytic leukemia), Abbie was diagnosed on November 29th 2010, and admitted under the care of the devoted Simone Stokely at Nottingham Queens Hospital, the shock and fear was immense as any parent will tell you and as all families understand the world stops turning.
Treatment was fierce and urgent and remission was almost immediate, life looked great, then the leukemia returned, again remission was gained until Abbie could have a bone marrow transplant, it was here we met yet another amazing specialist in Sarah Lawson at Birmingham Children’s Hospital who devoted so much time and care to our daughter and made her feel so special and safe!! The transplant was a success and nowhere near as scary as one would imagine, Sadly in this instance Abbie did not survive, however the recovery rate is much greater than people appreciate and never give up, these hospitals are first class as are the staff who work there but unfortunately not every child makes it through.
The aim of the charity is to allow families to spend quality time together on vacation in the Mablethorpe area in a purpose bought and modified caravan sleeping 6-8 people, at present fund raising is strong to purchase the holiday home and after a mere 6 months we have purchased our first caravan, the reason for the location being Mablethorpe is for a quiet peaceful location for vacations. There will be NO CHARGE for this as we realize money is tight when caring for a poorly child and time is needed off work to cope and care, please note only one holiday per child as places are valuable to allow more families a quality holiday of course donations are always welcome as the funding is ongoing.
Fundraising events will be placed on this site for future reference along with acknowledgements along with progress information and contact details.
